Green Keeper — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Green Keeper mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. The App is a plant‑care reminder tool. We designed it to be offline‑first: your data lives on your device by default, and online features are optional.

1. Information we process

• Plant data you create (names, species, room, photos, care schedules and care history). Stored locally on your device. It is only sent to the cloud if you enable optional Cloud Backup (see §3).
• Account information (email address) — only if you choose to sign in for Cloud Backup. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email and basic profile information with us via Firebase.
• Photos you select or capture — used to add a picture to a plant and, if you tap “Identify species” or “Diagnose health”, sent to a third‑party recognition service for analysis (see §4).
• Purchase information — if you buy Premium, the transaction is processed by the app store and managed by RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
• Advertising identifiers — for users on the free tier, Google AdMob may access your device advertising ID to show ads (see §5).

2. How we use information

To provide the App’s core features: storing your plants, scheduling local reminders, identifying species, assessing plant health, backing up and restoring your data, processing Premium purchases, and (for free users) displaying ads. We do not sell your personal data.

3. Cloud Backup (optional)

If you create an account and tap “Back up now”, your plant list is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) under your account so you can restore it on another device. You can stop using it at any time by signing out. Backups are tied to your account and are not shared with other users.

4. Plant identification & health (optional)

When you use species identification, the photo is sent to Pl@ntNet. When you use health diagnosis (a Premium feature), the photo is sent to Plant.id (Kindwise). These providers process the image to return results and handle it under their own privacy policies. We do not send these photos anywhere else.

5. Advertising

The free version shows ads via Google AdMob, which may use your advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. Purchasing Premium removes all ads. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

6. Third‑party services

We rely on these processors, each with its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore) — policy

7. Data retention & deletion

Local data remains until you delete a plant or uninstall the App. Cloud backups remain until you overwrite them or request deletion. To delete your account and cloud backup, contact us at the email below and we will remove your data.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your rights

Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise these rights.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
